During this season, more than 400 episodes will stream on a variety of platforms, specifically Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Hulu, and Netflix. While perhaps not as stacked with massive projects as Spring, Summer still has an exciting selection of shows, including sequels toJujutsu Kaisen,Mushoku Tensei,Bleach,Horimiya, andBungo Stray Dogs.

As has become tradition, if someone wants to watch everySummer 2023 anime, they will need to pick up a few different subscriptions. Even then, certain shows will not officially release on Western platforms, making it technically impossible for North American fans to watch everything. Let’s take a look at all each popular streaming service’s anime lineup for Summer 2023.

crunchyroll anime summer 2023 lineup

The information is accurate as of August 04, 2025.

Updated July 01, 2025 by Mark Sammut:As Summer 2023 is in full swing, the season’s streaming information should be set in stone, especially since nearly every anime has commenced its cycle. Even more so than Spring 2023, the overwhelming majority of Summer 2023 anime have found a platform to call home, making them accessible to Western audiences. Naturally, there are a few exceptions, most of which are either web series or kids' shows.

Crunchyroll Summer 2023 Anime Lineup

Unsurprisingly,Crunchyroll has the largest Summer 2023 anime lineup, and by quite a margin. The service is leaning heavily into new shows, although it has a couple of returning names as well. As the season is well underway, Crunchyroll has announced its full roster. All of the service’s Summer 2023 shows have aired their opening episodes by this point, so they are just waiting for a viewer to click on them. However, it should be noted that some series are not listed onCrunchyroll’s Simulcast Seasonpage and need to be found through the platform’s search function. Two such examples areSaint Cecilia & Pastor LawrenceandThe Devil is a Part-Timer!! Season 2.

As with every season, the platform’s lineup casts a wide net designed to cater to as many preferences as possible. Crunchyroll has comedy (TenPuru,The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses), action (Bungo Stray Dogs 5,Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2), romance (Saint Cecilia & Pastor Lawrence,Horimiya: The Missing Pieces), and even sci-fi (The Gene of AI). The service also has a plethora of fantasy and isekai anime, which are a must for every season.

HIDIVE Summer 2023 Anime Lineup

Compared to Spring 2023, HIDIVE’s Summer 2023 lacks that major name that allows it to stand out against Crunchyroll’s selection. However, the streaming platform’s picks are still exciting in their own right, and there are even a few series that have the potential to rank among thebest Summer 2023 anime.

If nothing else, HIDIVE’s anime picks offer a fair bit of diversity.Dark Gatheringis Summer 2023’s standout horror anime, at least in the sense that it genuinely tries to be scary unlikeZom 100. Slated to last for 25 episodes, the series centers around a girl who is on the hunt for her mother’s lingering spirit, and she will take down any otherworldly entities that stand in her way. To achieve her goal, she is accompanied by a guy who can sense spirits, although he wants nothing to do with them.

Dark Gatheringis not HIDIVE’s only two cour anime asHelckis also slated to last until the end of Fall 2023. Based on Nanaki Nano’s well-liked manga, the story envisions a world with both humans and demons, and they are not on speaking terms. In order to crown a new king, the Demon World arranges an open tournament, which proves to be a poor decision when a human hero becomes the top candidate for victory.

The rest of HIDIVE’s anime are all one-cour shows, but they have largely had decent starts.

Netflix & Hulu Summer 2023 Lineup

Generally, Hulu and Netflix do not offer enough seasonal anime to justify a recommendation based solely on the strengths of their lineups. For the most part, they are just nice additions to the platforms' other content; however, Summer 2023 is almost an exception. Both platforms have a few notable series that are not set to air on Crunchyroll or HIDIVE.
