Summary

Bowser’s affection for Princess Peach is as old as the character himself, and a newSuper Mario Bros. Wondervideo shows the Koopa King’s reaction to her new Elephant form. A brand-new 2DSuper Marioplatformer is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch later this month, with Bowser returning to wreak havoc on the Flower Kingdom. Meanwhile, Princess Peach will oppose him as one ofSuper Mario Bros. Wonder’s playable characterswith a host of new power-up abilities to call upon.

One of the most notable of these newSuper Mario Bros. Wonderpower-ups is the Elephant Fruit, which was first shown off during the game’s initial reveal trailer back in June. As its name suggests, the Elephant Fruit transforms its user (such as Princess Peach) into a larger, anthropomorphic elephant version of themselvesthat can stomp through blocks and swat enemies with their truck. This colorful new ability has spawned many memes in the build-up toSuper Mario Bros. Wonder’s release on October 20, and now Nintendo is revealing what the game’s main antagonist thinks about Princess Peach’s new look.

Earlier this week, Nintendo started releasing a series of animated shorts on its official Japanese YouTube account to promoteSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, the second of which stars Princess Peach and Bowser. The promo starts with Bower trying to impress the uninterested princess with a flower as he usually does, only for an Elephant Fruit to bounce past her and trigger her transformation into Elephant Peach. Bowser is initially shocked by Peach’s new appearance, but he quickly pulls out a full bouquet of flowers and offers it to her, apparently even more smitten than ever before.

So far there has been one otherSuper Mario Bros. Wondershort, which depicts Mario running through a series of boxes and Warp Pipesin his own Elephant Form- only to find himself stuck when he tries to climb into a green Warp Pipe. Excitement forSuper Mario Bros. Wonderis quite high, with pre-order sales for the upcoming title already ranking at #1 on Amazon. A playable demo forSuper Mario Bros. Wonderis also available at select retailers, giving eager fans a small taste of Mario and Peach’s new Elephant powers in action.

It seems even archvillain Bowser is impressed withSuper Mario Bros. Wonder’s new Elephant transformations, or at least Princess Peach’s version of the already beloved alternate form. The dreaded Koopa King has endlessly chased after Peach’s affections since the very firstSuper Mariogame, and apparently turning into a cartoon elephant will only make him desire her more whenSuper Mario Bros. Wonderhits stores next week if this latest promo is any indication.

Super Mario Bros. Wonderlaunches on October 20, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
