The Callisto Protocolis a third-person shooter where players will encounter space horrors and mutations eager to dispatch everything on board. Occasionally, a boss monster encounter will impede progress, highlightingThe Callisto Protocol’s tough combat difficulty.

After players have gotten plenty of upgrade opportunities and equipment, Chapter 6 sees Jacob the protagonist facing Two-Head, a two-headed biophage boss that can easily cut players down to size. Being prepared with this guide, however, will lessen the difficulty curve and make beating it more manageable.

The Best Equipment Setup

Certain weapons are not very useful inThe Callisto Protocol, and the lack of frequent Credit drops means players will need to level up their equipment wisely. After progressing to Chapter 6, weapons such as theRiot ShotgunandSkunk Gunwill be available, but choosing which ones to use is a big debate.

The main Hand Cannon Pistol and GRP Glove are equipped early on, and are the best items to funnel credits into during the first few chapters.Ignore crafting the Tactical Pistol and Skunk Gun, because this means a wider array of useless ammo and reduces the chance of maxing out the best upgrades.

The Callisto Protocol Aiming with Weapons

Before the boss encounter, players should ideallybuy the Hand Cannon’s first three upgradesand theStun Baton’s melee upgradesto take on lesser enemies successfully. This is followed up with the Riot Shotgun, which can knock back enemies during solo shots or in combos to chain melee hits, plus the useful spread of the shot.

Using frequent manual saves will also allow prudent players to reload to an earlier section to choose different upgrades if they have made an erroneous purchase. Even on Maximum Security difficulty, maximizing weapon efficiency andlearning how to perfect dodge enemy attackswill make for speedy progress.

Boss Battle Strategies

When the battle starts, Two-Head won’t spawn immediately. First, several other biophage enemies will appearand try to attack Jacob in a rush while on the moving platform. Getting rid of them as quickly as possible is the first step.

Equip the GRP Glove and quickly launch enemies off the sides of the platform. This preserves time and ammo, plus gives the player more freedom to take on Two-Head. Players should be mindful not to waste time, as lifting biophages uses a lot of GRP charge, so practice is recommended.

Using the GRP on an enemy in The Callisto Protocol

When Two-Head spawns, hold left/right to dodge the melee attacksas usual. After a successful dodge, the player can then fire a shot from the Riot Shotgun (or Hand Cannon if ammo is depleted), and dodge again. It is tempting to try and melee here, but it is more likely that Two-Head will deal damage and ruin the attack streak.

Enough shots will eventually knock Two-Head down, giving Jacob a chance to melee attack.Three melee attacks are required to cut Two-Head in half, but the battle is not over. Two-Head gets back up and the dodge-shoot routine needs to be achieved a second time.

A second downed attack sequence and Two-Head can finally be vanquished withthree more melee attacks. After being killed, the battle is over (barring any remaining enemies). Two-Head will occasionally appear later on asa downgraded regular enemy, but the same dodge/shoot attack will help players put him down.

The Callisto Protocolis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
