Wuthering Wavespresents a distinctive gear system intertwined with the game’s lore: Echoes. These Echoes vary in form and size but share a unified purpose of enhancing the Resonator’s combat power. The following guide explains everything about Echoes, starting with their definition and proceeding to recommend optimal methods for acquiring them.

Wuthering Waves’ Echoes Explained

Echoes are Reverberations of Tacet Discords absorbed into the Data Bank of a Pangu Terminal. Put simply,Echoes are the souls of monsters inWuthering Wavesthat the player captures. Once absorbed, these Reverberations can be equipped on a Resonator (player or a companion character) as a means of stat boost.

Each Resonator has five Echo slots in their Pangu Terminal, allowing them to carry up to five monsters with them. Of all the slots, only the first is “Active,” meaning it can be summoned on the battlefield for a brief period. The rest of the Echo team serves as pieces of gear or artifacts that enhance the player’s stats.

Echo Classes

Echoes are divided into four Classes: Common, Elite, Overlord, and Calamity. These titles determine the Echo’s Cost, with Common Class being the cheapest and Overlord and Calamity being the most expensive.

Echo Costs

Cost is an Echo’s carry weight. InWuthering Waves, each Resonator can carry five Echoes with a total Cost of 10 (or up to 12 when the Data Bank is leveled up). The player must create compositions of five Echoes that do not exceed this limit. Currently, the META comps are 4-3-1-1-1 forbeginner players, and 4-4-3-1 for advanced players.

Echo Stars

Stars are an Echo’s rarity indicator, with 1-Star being a common variant and 5-Star the rarest.Wuthering Waveshas four Star categories that have designated colors and level caps. (See the table below)

Echo Types

Echoes have two general types: Regular and Phantom. The second group, Phantoms, are shiny variations of six prominent Echoes: Rocksteady Guardian, Hoartoise, Impermanence Heron, Thundering Mephis, Feilian Beringal, and Mourning Aix. Players can catch a Phantom Echo inWuthering Wavesbyrepeating the battle with specific monstersor by purchasing them from the in-game shop.

Phantom (shiny) Echoes are not stronger than their Regular variants. The Phantom status is merely a cosmetic feature.

Players can get theDo You Believe In Light Too?Achievement inWuthering Wavesfor obtaining a shiny Echo for the first time.

Attributes, Sub Attributes, and Sonata Effects of Echoes

Attributes and Sub Attributes are an Echo’s skills. Each monster starts with two Attributes, one primary and one secondary, and can obtain up to five Sub Attributes through Tuning. Attributes andSub Attributes are generated randomlyupon Absorption and level-up procedure, with each Class pulling from a limited skill pool, which is explained in the following table.

A Flat buff for an attribute adds a specific number to a stat, while a Percentage buff adds a proportion of the base stat to the total.

Here is a list of all Sub Attributes an Echo can gain:

SubAttributes cannot be re-rolled.

Sonata Effects are an Echo’s passive abilitiesthat unlock when the player uses two or five of the same type in their team (the higher the number, the greater the buff). There are nine Sonata Effect types, each granting a specific elemental stat boost to the player.

How to Get Echoes in Wuthering Waves

Echoes are gained through defeating overworld monsters. After killing a non-human enemy, there is a slight (10–20%) chance that they will leave their Reverberation behind. Players can then approach the monster’s silhouette and select “Absorb” to obtain it. After absorption, the captured creature is added to the player’s Data Bank.

Absorption

The term Absorption refers to catching an Echo. Unlike games likePokemon, catching a monster inWuthering Wavescannot go wrong, and players can absorb as many Echoes as they want.

Data Bank

The Data Bank is the player’s Echo Collection. Unlike a similar mechanic like Pokedex in Pokemon, the Data Bank has levels, limiting the rarity of Echoes the player can catch. Data Bank’s cap can be increased by obtaining designated experience points by capturing more unique creatures.

Echo Farming

InWuthering Waves, Echoes are respawned daily after the daily reset time. To farm them, players can explore the overworld regularly and defeat any monster mobs they come across. It’s also possible to farm Echoes by joining other players’ games in the co-op mode.

Echo drop rates are calculated individually. So,when playing with others, all party members have an equal chance of catching a monster, provided it’s defeated.

How to Upgrade and Tune Echoes

Echoes can be leveled up and tuned from the Resonators menu. After choosing a Resonator, select “Echo” from the left sidebar and tap “Upgrade.” In the opened menu, add Upgrade Material to level up the Echoat least five times. This will unlock the Tuning menu, with which the Echo can gain Sub Attributes.

Tuning an Echo requires Tuners, which are Star-exclusive upgrade items. There are Basic, Medium, Advanced, and Premium Tuners in the game, which help unlock Sub Attributes of 2-Star, 3-Star, 4-Star, and5-Star Echoes.
