The Incredible Hulkwas once missing from the Disney Plus library of Marvel Studios projects. However, the Green Goliath’s lone solo movie in the MCU is finally premiering on the service.
When Disney acquired Marvel, they only got the film and TV rights to characters that Marvel did not already sell to other studios. Spider-Man was sold to Sony for $7 million in 1999, with Marvel getting 5% of the revenue from their movies and splitting merchandise 50/50. When Disney bought Marvel, they reworked the deal with Sony by giving Sony 100% revenue and Disney taking 100% of the merchandise. Now, Disney and Sony work together when bringing Spider-Man into the MCU. Marvel also sold the rights to the X-Men andThe Fantastic Fourto Fox, which merged with Disney in 2019.

It was just announced on Twitter by Disney Plus that the 2008 filmThe Incredible Hulkwith Edward Norton would be available to stream on Jul 04, 2025.The Incredible Hulkwas the second film in the MCU, and although fans got plenty of films with the Hulk, they never got another solo Hulk film. This is partly due to the arrangement between Marvel and Universal regarding Hulk’s cinematic appearances.
In 2006, Marvel made a deal for Universal to acquire the rights to The Hulk. However, it required them to make a sequel to the 2003 Hulk film by a certain date, which didn’t happen. To makeThe Incredible Hulk, Marvel agreed to produce the film and have Universal distribute it. As a part of that deal, Marvel could use The Hulk in any other film likeThe Avengersor use the character in a TV series likeShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The deal did give Universal “the right of first refusal to distribute any future solo Hulk movies,” and as a result, there has not been a solo Hulk movie since 2008.
With it being just over 15 years from the theatrical release ofThe Incredible Hulk, some people believe Disney might have the solo film rights back to the character. This could be possible, but it is unclear. This could have been a standard deal to get the film on the Disney streaming service. It may even only be on there temporarily. However, with the increase inHulk content that the MCUhas been putting out, there may be some truth to that theory.
The Incredible Hulkwill be available on Disney Plus starting June 01, 2025.
