When it comes to the history of the series, only the Goth family may be more well-known and iconic to the franchise, although the two families are very different. Not only will the Landgraabs likely show up again, but their next incarnation must live up to their reputation.
When it comes tomorality inThe Simsgames, there is room for interpretation. Aside from the traits that are literally labeled “Good” and “Evil”, most Sims are a collection of personality quirks that form a whole personality. Players can easily make Sims with both good and bad traits, such as a Sim who is polite while being a selfish snob, or a career supervillain who is honest and loves animals. This is a big part of what makes the sandbox ofThe Simsso much fun. Of course, the input of the players also has a lot to do with a Sim’s ultimate morality.

The Sims' Landgraab Family Need a Fitting Role in The Sims 5
There are a fewfamilies inThe Simswith lacking morals, and one of the main culprits would be the Landgraab family. The Landgraabs are consistently one of the most wealthy families in town whenever they appear, as well as one of the least pleasant, with family patriarch Malcolm being the biggest example. With the exception ofThe Sims 3, where Malcolm is a mild-mannered kid with the Good trait and his descendants in expansions are decent people, the Landgraabs could be consideredThe Sims' most antagonistic family. A return inThe Sims 5is liable to keep them in that position.
In order to help the Landgraabs live up to their villainous reputation, a moreopen world inThe Sims 5could be in order. Adding more connections between the Sims in the city could make things a bit more complex, as well as let the Landgraab’s long history come into play. Since the Landgraab family has been maneuvering for a long time, it would make sense for a lot of Sims to have strong opinions about them. By giving the game world a more intricate web of relationships, the impact of the Landgraab family would be far more apparent inThe Sims 5.
If the developers want to lean into potential storylines, then one route to take could be theLandgraabs facing consequences inThe Sims 5. There are several ways this could be approached, each with their own outcomes.The Sims 5’s version of the Landgraabs could start the game after a massive scandal, costing them their fortune or leaving them under intense scrutiny. With the Landgraabs finally receiving some comeuppance, players could have the option to either have them redeem themselves, or attempt to outrun the consequences.
The Landgraab family is one of the few recurring antagonistic presences inThe Sims, andThe Sims 5could capitalize on that. Although thetimeline ofThe Simsgamescan be confusing at times, it would be good to see a more developed version of some families. In the case of the Landgraabs, expanding on their influence and impact would make sense. After all, they are a franchise staple who wield a lot of power according to the games.The Sims 5could play off of that and show the Landgraabs in a form that compliments their reputation.
