Summary
Ergo is the in-game equivalent of Souls or Runes inLies of P. Players use Ergo to level up their character’s stats, upgrade their weapons, and purchase various items in the shops manned by different NPCs. For those who don’t want to farm Ergo for hours on in, using it wisely is a top priority.
That said, there aresome items in the shopsthat are best left on the sellers’ shelves since they can be acquired by defeating enemies in numerous areas in the game. Unless it is absolutely necessary for builds, the following items are a waste of Ergo and should not be bought.
5Fable Catalyst
Using a weapon’s Fable Artsis essential in combat and should be one of the key things players need to acclimate themselves with as they venture into the different areas inLies of P. As they progress through the more dangerous levels, players might encounter locations that have tons of enemies. During these encounters, it is likely that they will use their weapon’s Fable Arts to dispatch them.
The Fable Catalyst is a consumable item that replenishes P’s Fable Arts bar. In a pinch, using this while in combat can help players gain at least one more Fable Arts bar and use it against enemies. But one mechanic the game teaches players off the bat is that each time a player hits an enemy, if their Fable Arts meter is not full, it will slowly fill up.
This incentivizes players to be more proactive whendealing with enemies and bossesif they want to have a fully charged Fable Arts bar: purchasing this is unnecessary in this regard. Additionally, teleporting back to Hotel Krat and going to the training dummy area will fully replenish P’s Fable Arts bar. Teleporting might be a slight time waster, but at least it doesn’t cost anything to get a full Fable Arts bar, so it’s worth it.
4Legion Magazine
The Legion Arm is P’s essential tool to combat the various puppets, monsters, and human enemies in the game, once players gain access to it. Its different variations make combat more manageable, so long as players are keen on keeping an eye on its meter. Once the Legion Arm’s meter is depleted, the player cannot use it until they replenish it. This is where the Legion Magazine comes in.
Using the Legion Magazine refills the Legion Arm’s meter. This is beneficial, especially during boss fightssince it is likely that players will utilize the Legion Arm they’ve equipped to take on such a challenging encounter. In that regard, it is best for players to learn how to conserve their Legion Arm meter during hard fights since they need to become familiar with the Legion Magazine’s reload time.
Once players have access to the Gold Coin Fruit Tree, players can use Wishstones: the Advance Wishstone, in particular, will temporarily restore the Legion Arm’s meter. The Gold Coin Fruit also refills after a certain time and can be acquired to purchase Advance Wishstone without costing Ergo.
3Moonstones
Upgrade materials are a staple of Soulslike games since theselevel up the players’ weaponry. ForLies of P, different kinds of Moonstone are needed to upgrade P’s weapons to make them hit harder. Various NPCs that sell items usually have Moonstones: Polendina in Hotel Krat is the main seller of such upgrade materials.
During the game, players who comb through the areas will acquire various kinds of Moonstones that they can use to level up their weapon of choice. This is why it is better to use their Ergo in other things, at least in the early to mid-game, since eventually, they will get the necessary amount of Moonstones to fully max out their current weapon.
But for players who want to max out multiple weapons, they can purchase the various Moonstones from the different NPCs. Theyneed to farm Ergofor it, though.
2Venigni’s Urgent Repair Tool
One of the constant things players need to remember during combat is their weapon’s durability meter. They need to make sure to keep their weapons’ durability in tip-top shape since their damage output will become less effective when their durability drops in the red from constantly attacking and blocking. Luckily, players haveaccess to the Grindstone: using this on a weapon will slowly refill its durability, but they need to channel it until it becomes full.
Those who are still not used to the Grindstone can use Venigni’s Urgent Repair Tool to instantly replenish their weapon’s durability. In some key situations like boss fights where Perfect Guarding is essential, having one of these can come in handy, but it is still better to get accustomed to using the Grindstone since it doesn’t cost anything to use it during battles.
1Sawtoothed Wheel
Throwable items offer a fun alternative for damaging enemies inLies of P. Players can either throw canisters that contain different elemental properties to burn, electrocute, or acidify their targets. Some throwables just deal physical damage.
This makes the Sawtoothed Wheel one of the worst throwable items in the game. It deals next to no damage and is only used to get an enemy’s attention to give players a chance to deal with mobs of enemies one at a time. Sawtoothed Wheels cost 10 Ergo in the shop, but even its affordability isn’t worth it because enemies in the early levels have the chance to drop these for free: in the latter stages, Sawtoothed Wheels are not viable throwables due to their rubbish damage compared to other options available for players.
