Actress, author, and all-around amazing human being Carrie Fisher will always be remembered by fans for her role as Princess Leia in the originalStar Warstrilogy. Even though Fisher is, sadly, no longer with us, one fan is helping to keep her memory alive with some incredible cosplay.
In the originalStar Wars trilogy, Fisher played Leia Organa, a Princess from the doomed planet of Alderaan who would go on to become one of the most important figureheads in the fight against the Galactic Empire. Fisher reprised her role as Leia inDisney’s sequel trilogy, starting withThe Force Awakenin 2015.

Sadly,Fisher passed away in December of 2016, not long after shooting the second film in the trilogy,The Last Jedi. When making the final film in the franchise, J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm made the difficult decision to use deleted scenes and repurposed footage of Fisher so that she may reprise her role posthumously inThe Rise of Skywalker. The results were met with mixed reactions, but at the end of the day, there’s just no faking a charismatic and beloved presence like Carrie Fisher.
It’s hard to put into words just howimportant Fisher was to theStar Warsfranchise. She played easily one of the most recognized characters in all ofStar Warshistory and was absolutely beloved by the fanbase. Even though Fisher will likely be remembered as the Princess of Alderaan for the rest of eternity, she was also an accomplished author and by all accounts a witty, hilarious, and incredibly intelligent human being. Leia Organa will forever be remembered as a strong female role model for young girls and all fans alike, and Fisher’s legacy will not be forgotten anytime soon as one fan, in particular, has shown.
Cosplayer Christine Evans has made an incredible effort to capture Fisher’s likeness. Evans works in costumes and wigs, according to her Instagram, and is a contributor toWhy I Geek: An Anthology of Fandom Origin Stories, which tells various first-hand accounts from the perspective of fans and shows how they got invested in their fandom.
If you browse Evans' Instagram page, you will be treated to manydifferent iterations of Fisher’s Leia, particularly in her role as the General of the resistance in theStar Warssequel trilogy. Evans was even lucky enough to meet Fisher before she passed and shows a true admiration for the late great actress.
