Ubisoft seems to be working on around 11Assassin’s Creedtitles at the moment, according to a new report. An earlier report already claimed thatUbisoft was expanding the development team for Assassin’s Creed, which now makes more sense considering it has multiple projects in the pipeline.
TheAssassin’s Creedseries has been Ubisoft’s crown jewel for a long time. ItsPrince of Persiaseries set the foundation of the parkour-filled action-adventure gameplay, whichAssassin’s Creedtook to the next level with its engaging lore, world design, and polished stealth gameplay mechanics. Furthermore,Assassin’s Creed Valhallabecame Ubisoft’s first billion-dollar game, which was reason enough for the French developer to double down on its best-selling franchise. Consequently, it is doing exactly that, as it is reportedly working on multipleAssassin’s Creedtitles right now.

As reported by Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is currently working on 11Assassin’s Creedtitles, including the upcomingAssassin’s Creed Mirage. Apart from Mirage, there are three other titles currently in Production:Assassin’s Creed Nexus,Assassin’s Creed Codname Jade, andAssassin’s Creed Codename Red. Two of the games in this line-up,Codename HexeandCodename Invictusare reportedly in pre-production as well. Additionally, three games codenamed Nebula, Raid, and Echoes are in the conception stage, with Raid and Nebula being multiplayerAssassin’s Creedtitles. The report also mentions that a sequel to the VR game,Assassin’s Creed Nexus, is already being discussed internally. Another title rumored to be in development is theAssassin’s Creed Black Flagremake, which introduced Edward Kenway to the franchise. Interestingly,Black Flagis also the fifth highest-selling Ubisoft game of all time, with around 15 million copies sold, which could be a big reason for its comeback.
A crucial detail in this line-up is that the games are a mix of multiplayer and single-player titles, with one of the games also being developed for mobile.Assassin’s Creedintroduced a multiplayer mode for the first time withAssassin’s Creed Brotherhoodwhich was released in 2011, but the mode was popularized byAssassin’s Creed Unity, which still has active players eight years after its release. However, it didn’t gain any significant popularity despite several fans appreciating the innovative gameplay, so it will be interesting to see how Ubisoft approaches a complete multiplayer game in the series.
Ubisoft’s bet on theAssassin’s Creedseries makes sense financially but is also perplexing as it has other IPs to focus on. Last year,Ubisoft canceled around seven games, and the future of itsPrince of Persia: Sands of Time Remakeis also uncertain. However, it is also reportedly working on two newFar Crygames, which has left fans wondering if the developer will be able to manage such an extensive roster without any more cancelations.
