The representative goes further, stating that this “targeted realignment” has affected33 employees of the company. Ubisoft Toronto’s Current Projects
This wave of layoffs hitting Ubisoft Toronto is rather ill-timed. As mentioned previously,Ubisoft Toronto was brought on to help develop thePrince of Persia: Sands of Timeremake, which at the time was seen as an exciting update. While Ubisoft Toronto is going to lose employees, the remake is still supposedly targeting a 2026 release window, though a specific date hasn’t been provided yet.
Ubisoft Toronto was also working on a remake ofTom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, which was first announced in 2021 but has similarly seen few updates since its announcement. While insiders have said that there’s “nothing bad” going on with the title, and it simply requires more time, these layoffs are likely going to affect its development as well. Despite these rounds of layoffs, Ubisoft says that it will not impact any ongoing work, and that the team is working to deliver on these projects.
