As players progress throughValkyrie Elysium, they will gradually obtain avaried arsenal of weaponsto use against the undead that infest Midgard. Many of the weapons are obtained by completing Main Missions, while some can only be acquired by completing Side Quests. Excluding the two weapons (Alscir and Svartaljr) that come from pre-ordering and the Deluxe Edition, there are six weapons in total inValkyrie Elysium. The six weapons are Alfodr, Bolverkr, Gagnrathr, Baleygr, Herteitr, and Sidgrani.
When maxed out, all weapons have the same stats in terms of physical and magical damage. They will also all have two slots for runes to be socketed. That said, all weapons vary in how useful they are in combat, and here is how they rank with each other.

6Sidgrani
Sidgrani is unique among all the weapons thatValkyrie Elysiumplayers have access to, as it is a large two-handed mace. It is also the only weapon that focuses more on magic damage as opposed to physical damage.
As a result, attacks with this weapon are slow, and they have terrible range. While there is an ability that lets players shoot off magic projectiles, they do not do much damage. All in all, while Sidgrani is a great-looking weapon, it doesn’t hold a candle to other weapons available to playersin this action RPG.
5Baleygr
Baleygr is a spear that allowsValkyrie Elysiumplayers to strike their foes quickly without having long attack animations that make it difficult to dodge enemy attacks. While the range on this weapon is better than Sidgrani, players will often find it difficult to land attacks on faster targets with this weapon.
Early onin this short game, Baleygr is useful. However, as players upgrade their other weapons, it will end up gathering dust since upgrades do not improve this weapon much, especially once players manage to get their hands on Herteiter, which is significantly better than Baleygr in every single way.
4Bolverkr
Bolverkr is a rapier thatValkyrie Elysiumplayers acquire after beating Chapter 1 and was alsoobtainable in the demo. In contrast to the starting weapon, Alfodr, attacks from Bolverkr are much faster, but each swing does less damage and has much less range.
While it isn’t as good as other swords, Bolverkr can be very helpful in situations where players are fighting enemies that are weak to that particular weapon. While socketing runes into this weapon can make it more versatile, there will often be better choices available. Though as far as art design goes, Bolverkr is easy on the eyes.

3Gagnrathr
Gagnrathr is a curved two-handed sword that is acquiredthrough a Side Quest. Attacks with this weapon are slow but provide a great deal of range. When upgraded, this weapon can easily carve through weaker enemies, especially if they are staggered by elemental damage.
While Gagnrathr is very helpful for normal enemies, its slower speed can make it a poor choice for when facing off against a boss. The reason for this is that the slower attack animations of Gagnrathr can make it more difficult to dodge boss attacks though this can be mitigated to some extent with runes that boost physical and magic damage reduction. That said, Gagnrathr is a lot of fun to use, especially if players replay earlier missions and destroy weaker enemies and bosses with it.
2Herteitr
Herteitr is a double-bladed spear that provides far more in terms of speed and power than Baleygr. Not only that, but attacks with this weapon are much more acrobatic and allow players to dodge attacks while also landing a series of attacks of their own. With the attack speed of Herteitr, equipping an Arts Regneration rune will allowValkyrie Elysiumplayers to use Divine Arts more often, which can make iteasier to receive S-Rankat the end of a mission. This is especially helpful since elemental damage is the key to stunning enemies and doing more damage to them.
Near the end of the game, this strategy also allows players to use Nibelung Valesti more often. SinceValkyrie Elysiumplayers can have two weapons equipped at any given time, Herteitr is a great option for one of those slots.
1Alfodr
Alfodr is the sword that playersstart the game with. While typically, this would be the weapon that gets replaced and forgotten about within the first few hours of the game, that is not the case here. Though it may seem strange, Alfodr is the kind of starting weapon that gets significantly better as players get further into the game. Even right out of the gate, Alfodr is a very powerful and versatile weapon. As players upgrade it and equip it with runes, Alfodr becomes more and more useful against normal enemies and bosses alike.
Once maxed out, players can easily clear missions with just this weapon alone, especially since elemental weakness is more important than weapon weakness. So if there is any weapon that players should have equipped, it is definitely Alfodr.
