Releasing alongside the PlayStation 5,Godfallhas been one of the more notable showcases of what Sony’s upcoming new hardware can do. It’s likely one of the first major games players will pick up alongside their shiny new console, acting as a tech demo for whatthe PlayStation 5’s updated hardwarecan achieve.
For those not entirely sold onGodfallor looking for a more direct representation of what gameplay on the PlayStation 5 will look like, Famitsu Tube has posted an extended look at the game through a new YouTube video. Whilefans have seen a lot ofGodfallthrough fast-paced trailersand highlight reels, Famitsu’s video is one of the first to show exactly what the moment to moment gameplay of the upcoming release is like. For one, the footage really highlights the game’s graphics, showing off its world and vivid color palette. If anyone needed convincing that the next-generation would offer boosts to visual fidelity,Godfallis an example of exactly why the PlayStation 5 and Series X have such a hefty asking price.
The core gameplay seems to follow players navigating through linear environments as they take on all manner of foes, including smaller enemies that attack in numbers, intimidating knights that must be countered to finish off, and larger bosses similar in scale to those of theDark Soulsfranchise.
An example of the latter closes out the eight-minute gameplay video, with the lumbering opponent wielding a giant mace that could be used to knock back the player with slow but incredibly powerful strikes. Beating the encounter requires the protagonist to call on their best abilities, including a shield throw, a counter, and health packs that seem to mimic Estus Flasks inDark Souls, respawning after each death.
Overall,Godfallseems to be a big focus for Sony this holiday, with the game shaping up to be an action experience that wears its influences on its sleeve. Of course, while it’s great to see the title in action, it’s also brilliant to see what the PlayStation 5 is capable of in terms of visuals and performance. Fans will have to wait to see if the console’s other launch titles maintain such a high visual standard.
Godfallwill be available on PC and PlayStation 5 on November 12.
