Thankfully, there are a few ways players can choose to cure poison inBaldur’s Gate 3as well as some handy tricks for dealing with those pesky environmental poisons.
Updated May 21, 2025 by Kristy Ambrose:Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to break records when it comes to sales and gaming trends, and more players are exploring the length and breadth of this vast game. A few more weapons, potions, and spells that cure poison have been uncovered by numerous Tavs, Dark Urges, and Origin characters as they explore the Sword Coast. A few of these methods are creative and unconventional because not everything that cures poison is a simple potion.
1Arrows Of Salving
A Handy Long-Distance Cure
Spells that cure poison might be limited to certain classes or scrolls, but theArrow of Salvingcan be used by any character armed with a bow or crossbow. They don’t even have to be proficient in the weapon to use it, but that makes it a lot more likely they won’t miss.
The Arrow of Salving is a Rare quality item, as opposed to most special arrows that are Uncommon, which is one reason players are less likely to pick them up from random fallen enemies. Characters who are keen on securing a ranged method of poison curing would have better luck buying these from vendors or looting them from locked chests.
2Antidote
The Basic Cure-All
One of the most common items in the game, this handyAntidotecan be bought and acquired in various locations. Players will most likely find it beingsold by merchantsspecializing in potions, though some regular vendors may carry a couple of bottles, too. If a player leans more toward the frugal side, looting enemies and their supplies may be a great source of free antidotes.
This antidote can be used to treat poisons of any variety, including Duergar-poison, the very same poison that Thulla, the Deep Gnome found in The Underdark, has contracted. The more crafty player will be pleased to know that the antidote can also be crafted by using Salts of Mugwort combined with any suspension.
3Antitoxin
Looted Or Pickpocketed From A Duergar
If players have somehow made it to the Underdark without collecting an antidote from somewhere and discoverThulla writhing in pain, a successful check will inform the characters that the antitoxin can be acquired from the Duergar that poisoned her in the first place, a man named Gekh Coal.
Depending on how players have navigated the Underdark, they could have already encountered the Duergar, but he’s only a short walk away from the Myconid Colony. Players can choose to be friendly towards him, enabling them to purchase the antidote, or they can choose the aggressive approach, in which case looting Gekh’s dead body should also provide players with the antitoxin they need to cure Thulla.
4Remedial Potion
An Uncommon Quality Antidote
It’s not easy to find, but for those willing to forage through locked chests or buy them from a few select merchants, theRemedial Potionis one of the few Uncommon level potions that can cure poison. Internet rumor says there’s a recipe for it buried in the game data, but so far it’s not possible to brew it using Alchemy.
A step up from the Common poison-curing potions of Acts 1 and 2, the Remedial Potion starts to turn up in Act 3. In addition to curing the Poisoned condition, it also remedies Blindness, Silenced, and Paralyzed.
5Lesser Or Greater Restoration
A Spell Known By Clerics, Rangers, And Druids
These spells are incredibly useful but are also very circumstantial. They don’t do regular healing but can eliminate certain status effects or even curses. While Lesser Restoration is all that would be needed to get rid of a pesky poisoning, Greater Restoration can be used in a pinch, should the former spell not be available.
Shadowheartis capable of casting both of these spells as they are on the cleric spell list, and prepared spells can be easily switched out whilst not in combat, so it is an especially useful tool for curing poison and other afflictions while outside of combat.
6Lay On Hands
Exclusive To Paladins
Lay On Hands isa Paladin abilitythat was adapted slightly from theDungeons & Dragonsruling to fit into the world ofBaldur’s Gate 3and its slightly modified ruling/character system. However, a consistent feature between both paladin abilities is the unique option to heal while also curing poison.
This is especially useful as poison attacks can be pretty brutal at times and characters may need the extra HP boost as well as some healing. Lay On Hands is a great way of killing two birds with one stone, or rather, healing two ailments with one ability.
7Gust Of Wind
A Handy Spell To Change The Environment
Whether through an environmental effect, a spell, or an item, poison clouds can gather and be a bit of a pain for a party to handle. Especially when the lead character can deftly avoid the cloud while the following party members may just choose to run into it instead.
The level 2 evocation spell, Gust of Wind, is available to most spellcasters and is great at getting rid of those pesky clouds and saving the party from being poisoned. While this spell may not be the cure one seeks to aid a poisoned ally, it can be useful in avoiding poisonous clouds in the first place.
8Elixir Of Silvanus
Brewed Only In The Druid Grove
The Elixir of Silvanus isn’t something players can buy or find, it can only be made. This potion has a few unique properties, such as how and where it can be crafted, which is one of the reasons not a lot of players ever discover it.
One of the ingredients is a Mugwort Bundle, not just a common bit of Mugwort, and the only person who has it is the Druid healer, Nettie. If fans don’t want to kill her and loot it from her corpse, they could take the less violent method of pickpocketing it. Once players have both ingredients, use the Cauldron of Boiling Theriac in the Druid’s Chambers to make the potion.
9Fire
Several Choices For Spells, Scrolls, And Grenades
There are a myriad of ways to set the world alight inBaldur’s Gate 3, and fire may just be the way to get out of some tricky situations. When faced with a poison cloud, and there seems to be nowhere else to go, players can trysetting it on fire.
Poison is extremely flammable inBaldur’s Gate 3, so players can use this feature to their advantage when navigating the world. There’s the risk of allies getting caught in either the poison or fire with this method, however, which has an AoE effect.
