One player discovers a funny glitch inHogwarts Legacythat messes with the protagonist’s robe during the sorting ceremony, putting a damper on what is supposed to be an important moment for any young wizard. While received incredibly well as a fun and polished experience,Hogwarts Legacyis an open-world titlewith a lot of moving parts, so it is bound that bugs will arise. Still, it is unfortunate one player had to experience one during what is otherwise a pivotal scene in the game.

Like its source material, the sorting hat ceremony inHogwarts Legacyis the event that decides which of the four houses in Hogwarts first-year students get placed in and stay for the rest of their time receiving an education in the magical school. While most students automatically get sorted into a house of the hat’s choosing based on their personalities, the game allows players to choose where their character gets to stay for the rest of the game.

While it’s supposed to be a big moment for everyone involved, Reddit user irrelevantreference1’s experience is somewhat spoiled when after deciding on their house, their robe begins to clip through the protagonist as its color changes to reflect what they chose. According to the post’s title on Reddit, the glitch had been the only one experienced within the first 10 hours of playing the game, testifying toHogwarts Legacy’s overall polish, but the timing of when the glitch happened is unfortunate.

The scene is still funny to watch, and responses have reflected this, with several comments declaring that the clip did not capture a glitch, but rather it was simply another part of the magic. Others asked how the game was overall, to which irrelevantreference1 had nothing but positive things to say outside the fact there is no included photo mode. It’s a valid complaint to make because despiteHogwarts Legacyhaving settings focusing on fidelity, and with photo modes brought up in the comments as a standard in other open-world games, its exclusion can be seen as odd.

Given that Warner Bros. and Avalanche Software have a system set up toreport glitches found inHogwarts Legacy, it is a real possibility that robes glitching into students will be patched out, keeping the sorting hat process as the special moment that it is supposed to be. There is no doubt that more bugs will be discovered as more people play the game, but hopefully, not many will interfere with big moments in the game.

Hogwarts Legacycomes out on February 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, April 4 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
