Summary

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’sIndigo Disk DLC was released just under a month ago, bringing with it tons of much-needed content and additional storylines. The series is known for its rich post-game content, and the two-part DLC succeeded in delivering hours of extra gameplay. Fans initially thought that the second part of the DLC had wrapped up the story, but that doesn’t seem to be the case just yet.

On December 20, it was announced in a 40-second preview that a final episode would be released forPokemonScarlet and Violet, taking place in The Teal Mask DLC’s Land of Kitakami. Following The Crown Tundra DLC, the second and last part ofPokemon Sword and Shield’sdownloadable content, no epilogue took place. This news took the community by storm but also made sense due to how connected the two DLCs are in terms of plot. Since the announcement of this epilogue is unconventional for the series, fans are wondering just what to expect from the game’s supposedly final piece of content.

What Was Shown In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Teaser Epilogue Trailer

The extremely brief trailer did not reveal much at all. It starts with the main character speaking to their mother and immediately turns to an image of Penny, Arven, and Nemona in Kitakami with the player. The release date of the epilogue was shown to be January 11 at 14:00 UTC (9:00 AM EST, 6:00 AM PST). The preview concluded with a message from The Pokemon Company, letting players know thatScarlet and Violet’smain story and DLCs must be completed to access the epilogue.

A New Mythical Pokemon

When the Indigo Disk DLC was released, dataminers discovered that the epilogue had been included inScarlet and Violet, and subsequently discovered the existence of theMythical Pokemon Pecharunt. It was nowhere to be found at Blueberry Academy, however, so players were curious as to how it could be obtained. Due to how notoriously difficult Mythical Pokemon have been to catch in past games, it could have been assumed that Pecharunt would be confined to the shackles of a future event.

Despite not currently being available, there is a lot of information currently available surrounding the Subjugation Pokemon. Its base stats have been data-mined, and it’s also known to be the trio master of the Loyal Three, the Legendary Pokemon that were the main plot points of The Teal Mask DLC. Given how the epilogue takes the player back toPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Kitakami, it’s very likely that fans will be able to catch Pecharunt in the finale.Furthermore, since Deoxys' appearance in the Delta Episode ofPokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire,Mythical Pokemon have been noticeably more obtainable in mainline games.

Multi Battles May Appear In Kitakami

All battles that took place in The Teal Mask DLC were Single Battles, meaning each trainer sends out one Pokemon at a time. In a surprising twist, however, the entirety of the NPCbattles in The Indigo Disk DLC were Double Battles. This provides a more difficult and nuanced experience for fans, as Single Battles are more streamlined and can feel repetitive. Since it was shown in the trailer that the crew in the epilogue consists of four trainers, its new story may have players taking part in Multi Battles.

Multi Battles are a classification of Double Battles. The difference between the two is that the former has each Pokemon controlled by different trainers. These were heavily present throughout the main game ofScarlet and Violetand both DLC episodes.

Another Pokemon Home Expansion Is Unlikely

The Indigo Disk DLC brought back a legion of Legion Legendary Pokemon from every generation of games, except for the sixth.Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde are notably missing fromPokemon Scarlet and Violet, and the only box-art Legendary Pokemon not to appear in the ninth generation. This is likely due to balancing purposes, but there was a sliver of hope within the community that their abilities may have been reworked and ready to go in the epilogue episode. This seems doubtful, however, as dataminers would likely have found evidence of their existence.
