Summary

While the Disney+Star Warsshows have all remained fairly self-contained, they do all tease some potential major changes that could come to the current canonStar Warstimeline. ButAhsokadoesn’t just tease those changes, as it finally brings them about, potentially kickstarting a brand-new era fortheStar Warsuniversethat could have massive implications for the rest of the franchise moving forward in every medium, including video games likeStar Wars Jedi: Survivor’s inevitable sequel.

Star Warsvideo games have been even more self-contained than the recent Disney+ shows. While all newStar Warsgames are technically canon unless stated otherwise, they still try not to contain anything that would drastically alter the canon timeline or any of its central characters, and as such they’ve kept their stories quite separate. For instance, while Cal Kestis has met characters like Saw Gerrera who appear across the franchise, Saw isn’t then telling other legacy characters about his presence inRogue OneorAndor. But withAhsoka’s ending potentially adding a whole new era to the timeline, there’s a real possibility that Cal Kestis could end up crossing over with the main story in the near future.

How Ahsoka’s Finale Could Set Up Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Sequel

How the Star Wars Ahsoka Show Ends

Taking place afterthe events ofThe MandalorianSeason 3, and coming about 10 years after the end ofReturn of the Jedi,Star Wars: Ahsokasees the titular ex-Jedi investigating rumors that an Imperial Remnant army is forming, with Grand Admiral Thrawn at its center. Along with help from Sabine Wren, Ahsoka travels to a different galaxy in her hunt for Thrawn, finding Ezra Bridger along the way. Together, the three attempt to stop Thrawn before he can escape back toStar Wars' usual galaxy, but they fail, with only Ezra managing to make it on board Thrawn’s flagship, the Chimera.

Star Wars: Ahsoka’s finalesees both Ahsoka and Sabine stranded in the other galaxy, alongside the Dark Side users Shin Hati and Baylan Skoll. While Shin Hati turns to leading some native raiders, Baylan Skoll ventures out in search of a mysterious unknown object, place, or being that’s reaching out to him via the Force. The final shot of Skoll sees him standing atop a gigantic statue of an elderly man, who’s flanked by two other statues on his left and right. These statues depict the Mortis Gods, a trio of ancient beings believed to be the living manifestation of all sides of the Force. Meanwhile, Ezra reunites with Hera Syndulla back in the normal galaxy, but Thrawn is still at large, presumably planning to reunite the Imperial Remnant forces.

What Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Sequel Could Do with Ahsoka’s Finale

Ahsoka’s finale has two major plot elements that could end up massively impactingStar Wars Jedi: Survivor’s sequel. The first, and by far the most likely plot point, is Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return.Star Wars Jedi: Survivoris set 10 years afterRevenge of the Sithand 9 years beforeA New Hope, and the end of the game sees Cal Kestis finally reach Tanalorr, a hidden planet where he plans on taking refuge from the Empire. It would make sense forJedi: Survivor’s sequel to skip forward in time and show Cal coming out of refuge and returning to the galaxy after the Empire’s defeat, only to have him be dragged into the conflict against Thrawn.

Alternatively, or maybe even additionally, some ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivor’s sequel could revolve aroundthe Mortis Gods. It would be tricky to pull off in a convincing and entertaining way, butJedi: Survivor’s sequel could see Cal Kestis come into contact with these gods, having to his way through various Force dreams and challenges in order to restore balance. Of course, that’s a much less likely avenue forJedi: Survivor’s sequel to go down.
