The limitedMonster Hunter Risedemo has quickly attracted attention from both longtime fans of the series and new players jumping on the opportunity of the series coming to Switch. However, with only two missions to play over 30 attempts, it’s only a small taste of thenew featuresMonster Hunter Risehas to offer to the series as a whole.

It likely won’t take long for a number of players to burn through all of the allotted attempts long before theMonster Hunter Risedemo ends leading up to the game’s release. That being said, some players may want to hold onto some of those missions if Capcom decides to repeat the same type of rollout that the developer has used for demos and betas in the past.

Considering the way that Capcom first gave players the chance to fight Nergigante in the beta forMonster Hunter World, it’s likely that an update might be coming to theMonster Hunter Risedemo. Exactly what this update might bring is up in the air, but there are several monsters that have already been revealed for the game that might make strong candidates for a new test hunt. Whatever this new hunt is, players may want to prepare for a serious challenge if it’s anything like the fifteen minute fight against Nergigante with a premade build.

Capcom has Already set a Precedent

So far, Capcom has been approaching this recent early trial similarly to how theMonster Hunter Worldbeta played out, which was copied for theIcebornebeta as well. Special rewards, like giving players the chance toearn items forMonster Hunter Riseby playing the demo, were given away during both ofWorld’s betas, with extras being given for defeating the bonus hunt. Then there’s the bonus hunt itself, which arrived shortly before the beta access was set to be closed off, and was seemingly built to be especially difficult, while also sending a toned down version of Nergigante from the base game.

It wouldn’t be going to far to assume that the developer is looking to copy the success of this content rollout for players still getting familiar with theweapons in theMonster Hunter Risedemo. Capcom didn’t exactly announce that the new monster was coming until it appeared the last time this happened, so players might not get a warning leading up to the release this time either. Hopefully the number of attempts will be refreshed when the new monster appears as well, otherwise there might be a lot of players missing out on the early challenge.

Who will the New Monster be?

In the past, the two monsters that have been introduced during beta testing and early trials forMonster Hunter Worldwere the flagship elder dragons from the base game and its expansion. That meant that players were given early access to Nergigante in the initial beta, and then Velkhana in the trial run forIcebornebefore its full release. So, the best bet for a new monster to drop in the demo would beMonster Hunter Rise’s Magnamalo, which has acted as the mascot for much of the promotional material around the upcoming title.

If this is the case, then players can likely expect a similar jump in difficulty for the Magnamalo that is present between the two monsters that are currently available in theMonster Hunter Risedemo. The early looks of this monster compare it to a supercharged Zinogre, possibly one that will bring dragonblight or a similar status effect to the game right from the start. This would make the Magnamalo a real challenge, even to veteran players, especially with the limited gear builds that are currently available in the demo.

Monster Hunter Riseis set to release on March 26th, 2021, for the Switch.
