Now thatWorld of Warcraftrecently releasedEternity’s End, the final chapter of theShadowlandssaga, players are looking forward to seeing what comes next for the MMO. If some slimy assets discovered in the Patch 9.2.5 Public Test Realm are any indication, the Gooey Slimesaber might be added toWorld of Warcraftin the near future.

WhenShadowlandswas released back in 2020,World of Warcraftheld a contest for players to vote for a mountthat would be given to all players who bought the new expansion. The Gooey Slimesaber did not win, but it was one of the most popular runner-ups.

The newly-found files suggest the Gooey Slimesaber might have a chance tobecome aWorld of Warcraftmountafter all. The assets consist of an icon that appears to be a slimy saber-toothed tiger, and a gooey green skin which would be used for the mount itself. The icon appears to be similar to those of other mounts inWoW. Though these assets are not definitive proof the Slimesaber is on its way, they do point towards the mount’s eventual arrival.

This would not be the first of the FreeShadowlandsMount Contest runner-ups to make its way intoWorld of Warcraft. Near the end of last year, the Soaring Spelltome was added to the game as a reward for the Mage Tower, challenging solo content that willsoon be a permanent addition toWorld of Warcraft.

World of Warcraftfans hope these leaked assets mean the Gooey Slimesaber will become a real mount some day. The Gooey Slimesaber, Soaring Spelltome, and Curious Caterpillar mounts were virtually tied for second place in both the NA and EU votes, just behind thevictorious Wandering AncientShadowlandsmount. It was a difficult choice, since most players wanted to see all the contestants inWoWsome day. If the Gooey Slimesaber makes it in, only the Curious Caterpillar and the Nerubian Swarmer remain.

Players are already speculating where the Gooey Slimesaber might appear withinWorld of Warcraft. It could possibly become a mount collection achievement reward, or a PVP mount due to its ties to Maldraxxus. Some speculate it may be involved in a potential Forsaken Heritage Armor Quest, considering new assets for Tirisfal Glades have been discovered, and the Dark Iron Dwarves andBlood Elves are getting new Heritage Questlines inWoW’snext patch. Though the mount’s existence hasn’t even been officially confirmed yet, fans are already eager to add the slimy sabercat to their collections.
