The Amirdrassil Race to World First inWorld of Warcrafthas concluded with Echo Esports taking the title, following a close duel with Team Liquid to take down the raid’s final boss, Fyrakk the Blazing, on the hardest difficulty. The Race to World First started one week after the release ofWorld of WarcraftPatch 10.2, Guardians of the Dream. With nine bosses anda legendary axe called Fyr’alath the Dreamrenderas one of its top prizes, Amirdrassil, The Dream’s Hope is the final raid of theDragonflightexpansion. At the end of the raid was Fyrakk the Blazing, one of the Primal Incarnate dragons, whose Shadowflame corruption has made him a more dangerous foe forWoWplayers to deal with. Though the Mythic race started alongsideDragonflightSeason 3 on November 14, the first two days were spent on the Normal and Heroic versions of Amirdrassil so that all challengers could get some gear and knowledge of what to expect on Mythic difficulty.
After a race that spanned nearly two weeks, Echo Esports claimed the world-first kill of Fyrakk on Mythic difficulty after both Echo Esports and Team Liquid got Fyrakk down to 1% of his health on Sunday, November 26. ThoughTeam Liquid claimed World First in the previous raid tierand engaged Fyrakk first thanks to a world-first clear of Amirdrassil’s penultimate boss, Tyndral Sageswift, the Europe-based raid squad was able to overcome Team Liquid with a clutch kill of Fyrakk after over 300 attempts. With multiple members of Echo and Liquid streaming their points of view,World of Warcraftplayers saw each back-and-forth pull of Fyrakk from both guilds.
Once the fiery dragon was slain, Echo celebrated and congratulated one another on a hard-fought raid, as this marked their fourth world-first clear as an organization. On social media, theWorld of Warcraftdevelopment team congratulated Echo Esports for their victory over Fyrakk. Following the victory, Echo also extended congratulations to Team Liquid for making the Amirdrassil Race to World First one of the most exciting to take part in. Players also thanked Blizzard for making Amirdrassil one ofthe most memorable raids inWorld of Warcraft.
