Despite the fact thatZack Snyder’sJustice Leaguewas well received by both critics and audiences, he still felt that the film’s final print was not entirely representative of his original vision. According to previous reports - including one by Martin Lennix, the actor who played Martian Manhunter in the film - Snyder had different plans for certain parts ofJustice League, especially the epilogue, and they involved Green Lantern.

Originally, Snyder wanted the end sequence to show Ben Affleck’s Batman being visited byMartian Manhunter with John Stewart’s Green Lanternas well. According to Lennix, Warner Bros. “made Snyder take out that part” because they had their own plans for a John Stewart reveal in a supposed follow-up project. Snyder expressed his disappointment with their decision, saying that it was a huge missed opportunity for the franchise to do something mindblowing.

Naturally, fans were curious about what Snyderhad in mind for the Green Lantern cameoappearance, so the filmmaker gave them a sneak peek. In a never-before-seen video, Snyder is shown displaying a high-quality render of the scrapped Green Lantern concept on his phone to a group of onlookers. The photo displays newbie actor Wayne T. Carr in the completed Green Lantern look, with the iconic green suit and both of his fists up and ready for battle.

It’s unclear whether we’ll ever see Carr’s Green Lantern in a future DC title since both Warner Bros. and Snyder have definitively denied the possibility of collaborating on moreJustice Leaguefilms. Initially, Snyder had planned forJustice Leagueto be part of a five-filmstory for the DCEU, but as tensions continue to mount between him and the studio, it’s almost certain that such an enterprise will never happen.

Still, Warner Bros. assures fans that they have something big planned for the Green Lantern Corps. In fact, the studio is currentlyworking on an HBO Max Green Lantern seriesthat could potentially bring the alien superheroes into the DCEU. There have also been rumors of a possible solo film that will follow John Stewart’s story, but nothing has been confirmed.

As for their inclusion in the Justice League, it’s hard to say what Warner Bros. will do now that Snyder seems to have washed his hands of the franchise for good. However, considering thatGreen Lantern characters have always been important membersof the Justice League in the comics, it would only make sense for the studio to somehow work them into the franchise.

Zack Snyder’sJustice Leagueis now streaming on HBO Max.
